Fukasa-Ryu Kempo
Kempo-Jutsu or “Fist Law” is a very effective blocking and striking system that was evolved and utilized by the Samurai to respond successfully to an attack. If a Samurai’s swords were in disrepair, inadvertently dropped in battle or he had been disarmed of his weapon, he would employ the evasive movements and precision-oriented striking techniques of Kempo-Jutsu. Kempo-Jutsu helps to position oneself for a quick and efficient locking, throwing and grappling technique characteristic of the Aiki and Ju-Jutsu arts. Thus, Kempo-Jutsu and the throwing arts of the Samurai are meant to work in tandem. It is important to mention out that Kempo-Jutsu has its earliest origins in China and then was developed further by the Samurai of Japan.
Fukasa-Ryu Hakutsuru Kempo
Fukasa-ryu Hakutsuru Kempo is reflective of the Kempo art that developed on the island of Okinawa that emphasizes the characteristics of “Wu-Shu,” the Chinese martial arts. In this case, the defensive techniques of Kempo are based upon Crane (animal) movements and the memorization and practice of an elaborate set of Kata (forms) that is a major element of this style.
Fukasa-Ryu Ju-Jutsu
Ju-Jutsu, “Gentle or Soft Martial Art” might appear on a superficial level to be ironically named as so because the result of fluid Ju-Jutsu technique would seem to subject a victim to everything that is far from gentle and soft. However, the name refers to the efficient way the user should execute his throwing and grappling techniques along with an intentional subtleness so an opponent is unaware of the strategy of the Ju-Jutsu-Ka. Ju-Jutsu’s vast array of throwing and grappling techniques were designed to be utilized against persons of any sizes and builds with combat effectiveness as the primary goal of the art. The elaborate grappling techniques that are unique to Ju-Jutsu are not limited by the size of an opponent… and the escape techniques are fast and efficient. This is what distinguishes Judo “the Gentle Way” from combat-oriented Ju-Jutsu developed by the Samurai.
